In advance of the third Production Designers Gathering on the island of Spetses, Greece this October, the PDC has teamed up with local affiliates for an Athens panel featuring prominent Gathering key speakers.
Titled "Beyond Our Wildest Imagination," the panel will explore the role of production designers, who are responsible for turning collective dreams into a reality on screen. They are the architects of film language tasked with translating, conjuring and communicating unique visions. In their design process, designers balance creative thinking with real-world problem solving. Equal parts dreamers and builders, production designers shape our collective imagination.
We invite the audience to enter the world of production design through the eyes of our esteemed panelists Tamara Deverell (Frankenstein), Rick Carter (Star Wars), Uli Hanisch (Babylon Berlin) and Anne Seibel (Emily In Paris), who will discuss their creative process. The designers will talk about their sources of inspiration, share behind-the-scenes stories and showcase their favorite sets. The evening is an invitation to the Greek film industry, students and the general public to foster imaginative storytelling.
The event is sponsored by the Gathering’s strategic supporters and institutional partners, Art Department Collective Greece (ADCG) and Hellenic Film and Audiovisual Center (EKKOMED), in collaboration with our founding partner, Oxbelly.
