Bio

Sofía Guzmán is a communicator with a Master’s in Art Direction from TAI Institute of fine Arts of Madrid, Spain. She is an award-winning Production Designer known for her work on both Colombian and international films. Her filmography includes acclaimed titles such as “Manos Sucias” by Josef Kubota Wladyka — winner at the Tribeca Film Festival [2014], which earned her a Macondo Award nomination for Best Production Design / Art Direction [2015]. Other notable projects include “Mi Bestia” by Camila Beltrán — premiered at the Cannes Film Festival [ACID] and awarded Best Latin American Film at SITGES —, “Quicksand” by Andrés Beltrán, “Alix” by Ana M. Hermida (Amazon Prime), and “Irreparable” by Klych López (in post-production). Her international collaborations span across Mexico and the United States, including “Son of Monarchs” by Alexis Gambis (winner at Sundance Film Festival [2021]) and “Tormentero” by Rubén Imáz (Official Selection at SXSW [2017]). In Mexico, her credits include the feature films “Dime Cuando Tú” by Gerardo Gatica (Netflix), “Una Navidad no tan Padre” by Raúl Martínez (Netflix), and as Art Director, “Camino a Marte” by Humberto Hinojosa. She has also led Production Design for major television projects such as “El Desafío de Buddy Latinoamérica” (Hulu), “Pacto de Silencio” (Netflix), and the upcoming Disney+ (Hulu) 2025 miniseries “Breakdown” by Bernardo de la Rosa. Additionally, she served as Art Director for “El Chapo” Season 1 (Netflix). In 2024, Sofía won the Macondo Award (ACACC) for Best Production Design / Art Direction with the film “Memento Mori” by Fernando López Cardona, and this year (2025) she is once again nominated for “Mi Bestia” by Camila Beltrán. She is currently the Production Designer of “Donde Comienza el Río” by Juan Andrés Arango and “Imperfecta” by Natalia Sminorf, set filmed in Medellín in fall 2025.
