Bio

While in college as an astrophysics major, Avery caught the theater bug. After receiving an MFA in Theater Set Design from CalArts, he began his career as an art director, eventually supervising working on films such as Minority Report and A.I., Team America: World Police, Star Trek: Into Darkness, and Tomorrowland, among others.

As a production designer, Avery’s credits are Captain America: Brave New World, and Ramayana. His other film credits include No One Will Save You, Hotel Artemis, Peppermint, 10 Cloverfield Lane, and the Sundance Film Festival selections Waitress and Right At Your Door. Avery won an ADG Award for his production design for the television series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.

Avery has contributed to other attractions and events around the world, such as the popular Avengers’ Campus for Disney’s California Adventure in the Disneyland Resort. His design for the Animation Pavilion, also at California Adventure, won a Thea Award. Along the way, he has kept a hand in theater, designing award-winning regional theater sets.
