Bio

Born in Palmerston, NZ, Grant Major started his path as a set designer for TVNZ and the BBC. His first design job was a television miniseries turned feature film An Angel at My Table (1990), directed by Jane Campion. He has collaborated with directors Niki Caro on Whale Rider and Peter Jackson on Heavenly Creatures and King Kong. Grant’s work for Jackson’s Lord of The Rings trilogy earned him two Academy Award nominations and a win, in 2003, for LOTR: The Return of the King. Other credits include Mulan, X Men: Apocalypse, and Green Lantern. Grant was recently nominated for an Academy Award for his work on Jane Campion’s The Power of the Dog.

Grant holds an honorary Doctorate from the Auckland University of Technology, and was bestowed the New Zealand Order of Merit for his services to the New Zealand Film industry.
