Beth Mickle first garnered international acclaim for her work in Half Nelson , directed by Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden, and Drive by director Nicolas Winding Refn, for which she received an ADG Award nomination. The two worked together again on Only God Forgives . After designing several films starring Ryan Gosling, Beth collaborated with the actor on his directorial debut Lost River . Her other credits include the films Focus, The Family Fang, Collateral Beauty, Motherless Brooklyn , and the HBO series The Deuce .
In 2018 Beth stepped into the superhero genre, working with director James Gunn on The Suicide Squad , followed by the final installment of his acclaimed trilogy, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 . She received her second ADG Award nomination for Excellence in Production Design for her work in the film, and an Emmy nomination for her work in the accompanying Guardians Christmas Special . Beth re-teamed with Gunn to design Superman , recently wrapping the first film in Gunn’s rebooted DC Universe.
