Design Book Club

This is a special design review for colleagues who have recently found themselves released from work and confined to their home due to the spread of COVID-19. In accordance with the times, we will be exploring the concept of HOME in design, art and history.

Due to the latest global restrictions on air travel, this month's review will lovingly and nostalgically explore the world of airline and airport design.

This month, to accompany our Forum question "How Do You Craft a Career", we review books on production design careers, written by or about established colleagues.

This month features a brilliant subject - Neon! We are joined by Matt Dilling, partner at Lite Brite Neon Studio, who was kind enough to share some of his favorites here. If you ever find yourselves in Kingston, NY, you should stop by Matt's incredible studio, meet the artisans working there and be inspired by the beautiful signs fabricated there daily!

This month's subject is postcards: these seemingly mundane, utilitarian images hold more than meets the eye! They are a great resource for production design research and sometimes are the only records of bygone enviornments.
