Bio

Anu Schwartz is a New York City-based production designer with a classical foundation in art history, architecture, and fine art painting. His work is deeply influenced by these disciplines and brings this unique perspective to his craft. With a long-standing passion for film as an art form, Anu's career as a production designer allows him to merge his artistic interests and collaborate through visual storytelling.

Anu's recent credits include season 13 of the popular anthology series American Horror Story with Ryan Murphy as director/showrunner, the feature film Sunny starring and produced by Angelina Jolie, Eva Sørhaug directing with Gramercy Park Pictures, seasons 1 and 2 of the Apple TV+ series Your Friends and Neighbors, starring Jon Hamm and Amanda Pete and produced by showrunner Jonathan Tropper.  Also credited is the Apple TV+ series Dear Edward, based on the New York Times best-selling novel with showrunner Jason Katims. Other notable projects include the The Endgame pilot (directed by Justin Lin for NBC Universal), Bridge and Tunnel season 1 (directed by Ed Burns for Epix Studios), The Politician season 2 (showrunner, Ryan Murphy for Netflix).

As a supervising art director, Anu has worked on acclaimed projects such as Fosse/Verdon (FX), Maniac (Netflix), and Gotham (Warner Bros.). His work on Fosse/Verdon earned him an Emmy nomination, and he has also received nominations for the Art Directors Guild Awards for Fosse/Verdon, Maniac, and Gotham.

In addition to his design work, Anu serves as the chair of the Sustainability Committee for Local United Scenic Artists 829, which represents over 5,000 professionals. Through this role, he has forged strong alliances with guilds, unions, and sustainability executives at major studios such as Disney, Amazon, HBO, Netflix, and Apple Studios. Anu is dedicated to fostering a cleaner, more sustainable industry through these collaborations.
