Roberto Bonelli
Roberto Bonelli is a Production Designer who has been based in Mexico City for the las 20 years. He has done major studio movies as Art Director, Set Decorator and Production designer.
In his 25-year career he has worked in Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America and speaks fluently English, Spanish, Italian and Danish. He has worked on 24 feature film and been the Production Designer on 12 of them.
Apart from feature films Bonelli is also very experienced in commercials. He has done Superbowl commercial spots for Bud Light, Turbo Tax, Pringles and TUBI as well as important commercial campaigns for Ford, Coco-Cola, Samsung, HP and Bacardi.
Roberto Bonelli was born on the 14th of November 1972 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
He is the son of a Danish mother and an Italian father and lived in Copenhagen until 1991 where he went to Italy to study Theatre Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Palermo. In 1995 he transferred to Florence Academy of Fine Arts to specialize in Design for Film & TV and in 1997 he graduated with first class honours.

Back in 2001 he was the principal Set Design ‘Frida’ which was nominated for the Oscar for best Production Design.
In 2004 he spent seven months between Shanghai and Hong Kong designing sets for the sci-fi movie ‘Ultra Violet’ staring Milla Jovovich.
Then in 2006 he was the key Art Director on Mel Gibson’s acclaimed movie ‘Apocalypto’. Straight from that we went to work as Art Director on ‘Love In The Time Of Cholera’ directed by Mike Newell.
In 2008 he was the Set Decorator on the 20th Century Fox production ‘Dragonball Evolution’.
In 2010 he did the Production Design on ‘Memoria De Mis Putas Triste’ Directed by Henning Carlsen.
In 2012 he was the Production Designer on the epic historical movie about the Mexican independence hero: ‘Morelos’.
In 2021 he was the Supervising Art Director on ‘Bardo’ Directed by Alejandro Gonzales Iñárritu.
And latest in 2022 he was the Production Designer on ‘Pussy Island’, directed by Zoë Kravitz.
