Uli Hanisch studied graphic arts in Düsseldorf, and worked in several European art departments for films of Enki Bilal or Peter Greenaway. His long-time collaboration with director Tom Tykwer started in 1996, and includes the films The Perfume and The International . His design on Cloud Atlas , directed by Tom Tykwer and the Wachowskis, earned him the German film Award and a nomination for the ADG award. Uli’s latest film is The Hunger Games: The Story of Songbirds and Snakes .
Uli’s other film credits include Season of the Witch , In Secret , as well as various German films with directors like Leander Haußmann, Andreas Dresen, Oliver Hirschbiegel or Sönke Wortmann. His television credits include all seasons of Babylon Berlin , for which he was awarded the German Television Award and the Grimme Price, and The Queen’s Gambit , which won him a Primetime Emmy Award and an ADG award.
Uli lectures at various film schools all over Germany and Europe, and has been a professor for production design at the International Film School in Cologne.
